Azure is at the center of enabling cloud computing for mega scale Microsoft services as well as our public cloud business. The Azure development team is responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of Azure technology including Compute, Networking, Storage, HPC, Engineering Systems, and Service Fabric.

This is a dual role as Technical Assistant to the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Azure and as the core Program Manager for the Azure Office of the CTO Incubations Team. You will work with the team to identify and incubate strategic and high potential projects and technology within the Azure eco-system and across the industry. You will assist in the research and presentation of key and upcoming technologies along with Azure and Microsoft Cloud strategy to internal teams, customers, and industry partners.

Basic Qualifications:

* A minimum of 5 years of relevant software design and development experience
* Proven design and coding skills
* Experience with authoring and producing whitepapers and presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

* Software design and development experience specializing in distributed computing
* Outstanding technical problem solving and debugging ability
* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Experience with hardware design and/or optimization of core operating systems software
* Experience with non-Microsoft platforms and technologies
* Familiarity with open source software systems and methodologies



Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities as Technical Assistant include facilitating cross group collaboration on technical issues both within Azure and with other teams across the company, providing deep technical and architectural research (including prototyping and explorative applications), driving the development of a divisional technology roadmap, and helping to author white papers and presentations.

Responsibilities as Azure Office of the CTO Incubations Team PM include incubating and managing projects from conception and inception through to productization. The team is dedicated to working with the industry and community open sourcing the majority of our projects. The role includes significant open-source community engagement, including project launches, facilitation of community contributions and writing sample/example applications of incubated technologies.
