The Software Quality Engineer 1 is an associate to mid-level operations contributor as well as an effective member to a management team working on product and release coordination for multiple converged platforms and products. The Software Quality Engineer 1 shares responsibility with the Release Manager for coordinating and monitoring all aspects of the old and new product cycles across multiple technology platforms and disciplines. The Software Quality Engineer I also provides technical support through compatibility checking and technical coordination with Product Management groups in multiple technical disciplines.
Essential Functions
Technical Functions
* Researches compatibility between various vendor companies and products. Analyzes hardware and software requirements to determine feasibility of release inclusion within time and resource constraints. * Consults with quality assurance teams to evaluate the success of test cases and issues for all platform systems. * Works with quality assurance teams to review documentation, address issues and support those roles within the release cycle. * Can articulate accurately and confidentially to other product teams to solidify project coordination with release management. * Periodically perform gap analysis on where there are communication and business flow issues between teams reside and develop solution ideas. * Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams on projects. * Ability to communicate with the release and technical staff, other project teams, and the release manager to deliver results. * Basic understanding or willingness to learn hardware and software for technical operations and how the products work together within this industry. * Establishes/maintains effective team communications to ensure release needs are met. * Keeps quality assurance and program teams apprised of work progress and is proactive in communicating any concerns or opportunities for better project delivery. * May perform other job related duties as assigned.
Experience, Education and Other Requirements
* 1-2 years of technical and/or communications experience or equivalent education. * Strong desire to work and learn the within the IT technical operations environments. * Experience in product coordination, product management and team collaboration highly recommended. * IT industry and IT hardware knowledge is a plus * Strong skills in time management. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Ability to learn and leverage new technical skills and components for understanding the overall product coordination. * Ability to clearly communicate release rationales to other technical teams. * Ability to develop innovative approaches to complex coordination and management problems. * Strong desire for ownership of assigned tasks. * Undergraduate degree.
