Job Description

Are you excited about bringing data science & art together to uncover areas of opportunity that shape strategic decisions and drive improved customer outcomes? We are looking for passionate, experienced, insightful and results-oriented Research Scientists to join our Region Management Team. From breaking down complex business problems, to modeling disparate data sets, prototyping mathematical and statistical models, to building out causal reasoning solutions, we do it all!

Amazon Web Services is innovating new ways of building massively scalable distributed systems and delivering the next generation of cloud services that support commercial and public sector customers around the world. We hold high standards for our computer systems and the services we deliver to our customers: our systems are highly secure, highly reliable, highly available, all while functioning at massive scale. Our employees are smart, passionate about the cloud, driven to serve customers, and fun to work with.

This is a tremendous opportunity to develop creative, new, and innovative insights to shape the future of cloud computing. The breadth of data we work with spans every aspect of AWS and we employ the latest machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) making this one of the most exciting positions in all of Amazon.

You'll be surrounded by people who are smart, passionate about cloud computing, and believe that world class service is critical to customer success. We're looking for innovators who want to create reliable and scalable solutions to help our leaders increase the value for our customers. On a "typical" day, our Research Scientists might collaborate with business leaders to forecast the long term performance of a new region, apply relevant mathematical modelling and statistical analyses techniques to estimate, simulate, optimize, and test the impact of business decisions, or may diagnose causation behind an unexpected trend in performance.

You will work closely with the business and technical teams on many non-standard and unique business problems and use creative-problem solving to deliver actionable output. You will be expected to initiate the design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects or science-based artifacts, with input and guidance from team members. Our team is serious about great design and redefining best practices with a cloud-based approach to scalability and automation. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
