Job Description

Facebook is looking for a talented, highly motivated engineer to join the Edge and Network Services team. This team is responsible for deploying and supporting one of the world's largest, most complex, and robust networks. Automation is the key to meeting our demands; you will be responsible for conceiving, developing and launching tools to support network deployment, maintenance, and scale of data center and edge infrastructure. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in all aspects of global networking at Facebook. This position is full-time and based in Fremont, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Conceptualize, build, and maintain tools to support network deployment and operations.



Proactively find gaps that impact multiple teams/orgs, come up with the execution plan and drive the project and influence other teams to reach there.

Develop automated methods to detect, mitigate and remediate network events.

Help make the people around you move faster by identifying issues slowing the team down and driving changes to address them.

Lead/mentor other folks - Work with other team members from partner teams, understand their challenges, help them find a solution and enable them to write code to address it.

Help with recruiting and onboarding of new members to the team. Help them by mentoring and assuring their quick ramp up within our environment.

Drive requirements with vendors and third parties to align our internal tooling efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* 5+ years of experience creating software for network infrastructure



Knowledge of programming languages, Python, Perl, or C++

Knowledge in Linux OS/Networking

Knowledge in SQL databases

Experience with network devices (routers, switches, load balancers) and knowledge of network routing protocols

Knowledge of TCP/IP

Experience debugging issues within custom code

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with design and implementation of network operation systems



High aptitude and knowledge in technology-agnostic approach to engineering

Experience in Django, PHP, Shell
