Job OverviewTechnical lead, responsible for engineering secure development environments. Develops and implements security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks, or attempts to infiltrate company data and engineering systems. Researches attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures. Understands hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols. Administers security policies to control physical and virtual access to systems. Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems. The responsibilities of this role include:- Deploy new standard and custom secure design environments- Develop, implement and maintain security controls that address the defined information governance and information security policies- Partner with Engineering and other IT teams for flow analysis and optimization, identifying and resolving constraints- Liaison with datacenter, networking, storage, compute infrastructure and operations teams- Support of SuSE Linux, Ubuntu and Windows in a secure engineering environment- Leading small project teams- Budget forecasting and capacity planning- Secure environment leadership and support- Working independently with little supervision.- Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with more significant impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.- Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.- Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).- Using deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.- Exercising exceptional creativity is needed to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products/ processes without established objectives or known parameters.- Collaborates with other IT Engineers to review security- or security-tool related issues, develop solutions, and make recommendations for addressing issues that impact a large number of customers in order to lead solutions that meet security requirements.- Serves as a technical lead on multiple large projects/systems, assigns work to a project team, and works on more advanced tasks to complete a project.- Proactively identifies security risks to existing systems and infrastructure and discusses risks with senior leadership outside of project team to construct solutions.- Serves as a buffer by proactively addressing any distractions before junior personnel experience setbacks.- Re-scopes projects based on discussions with business partners, identifies resources, delegates work, and reviews the work of team members in order to address changing timelines or priorities.- Manages team project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for large and/or multiple projects, and makes decisions that address significant issues.- Drives technical conversations to ensure the right path is followed to project completion.- Communicates within and outside of project team to resolve conflicts in implementation schedules, design challenges, and other complexities.
