In 2002, Cornell University engineering students Steve Conine and Niraj Shah founded what would later become Wayfair on a shoestring budget in a spare bedroom of Steve's house. By carefully analyzing Internet search patterns, Steve and Niraj recognized a market opportunity to sell stereo racks and stands online. This single-site grew into a network of more than 250 standalone furnishing sites which consolidated into Wayfair: one of the world’s largest e-commerce destinations for home.

At Wayfair, we value and honor the contributions of current and former members of the military and their spouses. Our Military Employee Resource Groups offer events, training, and other resources to strengthen Wayfair’s military family, while also bolstering the external military community through partnerships with organizations such as Homes for Our Troops. We invite service members, veterans, reservists, and spouses looking for rewarding career opportunities to come join the team!
At Wayfair, we believe that strong communities and good business are inextricably linked. We also believe that secure homes and basic household items are not only fundamental needs, but the foundation for well-being. As such, in addition to our employee-driven, company-enabled charitable giving program, we also partner with organizations—such as Habitat for Humanity, Homes For Our Troops, and more—to help create safe and comfortable living spaces for those in need.
At Wayfair, everyone makes an impact. All employees—including our interns and co-ops—are integral parts of their respective teams and are given autonomy to push themselves and find new ways to add value. Our interns are treated like full-time employees, often proposing, working on, or even spearheading projects of significant impact to the business.
