ToyTalk is a company with amazingly talented people trying to tackle a pretty radical idea. We are a family entertainment company with a mission to create entertainment powered by characters and conversation. We've released several conversational mobile apps, including The Winston Show, SpeakaZoo, and SpeakaLegend. We recently released a conversational app featuring Thomas the Tank Engine and we have announced a relationship with Mattel to create a physical Barbie doll that you can talk to using ToyTalk's conversational technology. ToyTalk is a venture backed start-up in San Francisco. We offer competitive salaries, stock options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
We believe that engineers should have the time and space to design and write great code; and not to be stuck in meetings all day long. We do a short daily sync up with the entire team each day, but that's pretty much it. We do an optional lunchtime brown bag session every couple of weeks or so if there's interesting new code or apps that someone has been using and wants to share with the rest of the team. We're a startup, so we need to move quickly, but at the same time we're also seasoned engineers who care deeply about producing and maintaining good production-grade code. We do code reviews, we have QA to test our code, and our CTO even wrote a book on good API design. We're a pretty small team (in the mid teens) but we have a wide range of skills, including speech recognition, AI/NLP, machine learning, 3D graphics, web development, and server infrastructure. We also get to work with a bunch of extremely talented creative artists, including writers, sound engineers, animators, and game designers. And at the end of the day, we get to build entertaining experiences that let people have engaging conversations with fun characters.
