Since its founding in the late 1990’s by two frustrated parkers in Amsterdam, Parkmobile has continuously improved the consumer parking experience with the goal to eliminate the frustration associated with finding and paying for a parking space. The original Parkmobile solution was based on IVR (Interactive Voice Response) technology, as smart phones were not invented at the time. After achieving a market leadership position in Europe, Parkmobile launched its North American operations. In late 2009, Parkmobile launched the first native mobile app to pay for parking.

Today, Parkmobile is the leading global provider of payment solutions to the parking industry, addressing all parking environments, access credentials and consumer payment preferences. As a result, over 10 million consumers globally have enrolled with Parkmobile. Parkmobile solutions are offered under multiple brands, including Parkmobile, ParkNow and numerous white-labeled brands, in over 2,500 locations across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Recent surveys show 95% of users would recommend Parkmobile to friends and family.

Today, it is estimated that 30% of all urban congestion is related to people looking for a place to park. Mega trends like population growth, increasing prosperity and urbanization will further accelerate urban congestion, rendering current transportation models unsustainable. Automotive manufacturers are responding to these trends by focusing on next generation urban mobility, connected cars and autonomous diving initiatives – viewing the automobile as a critical component of the larger transportation ecosystem. Cars are becoming the “largest wearables,” supporting mobile communications platforms that facilitate vehicle-to-vehicle communications, improve driver safety and facilitate commerce through integrated payments functionality.

Parkmobile plans to support a fully integrated and driver-centric parking experience from discovery to destination. Consumers will be able to plan and reserve parking on a mobile device, or a parking destination will be automatically selected as part of the navigation process based on availability and configurable preferences.
