We were founded by two deep technology experts who had completed their PhDs, one specialising in Photophysics and Optoelectronics, and the other in Signal Processing and Deep Learning for light and sound based sensing. Both founders have extensive and varied experience working across industry and academia. They had met in London at Entrepreneur First (EF9) and started the business towards the end of 2017 with the aim of developing new sensing technologies and solutions to solve complex problems with significant impact on the way we live our lives.

We are particularly interested in applications that involve robotics and can assist with maintaining and supporting large scale infrastructure, such as the inspection and monitoring of utilities and transportation networks, which have a profound (and often underappreciated) effect on our lives. Our products will at first be used to assist with the inspection of these complex and harsh environments, but eventually will be used by autonomous machines operating within them – think autonomous service robots and drones. Eventually, our technology will be utilised by sensor and vehicle manufacturers too, to enable operation in the world’s harshest conditions. This could be for inspection and monitoring, but also for transportation and even search and rescue operations.

We are a diverse team and believe this is needed to solve some of the complex challenges we are taking on, with deep technical expertise spanning Computer Science, Robotics and AI through to Physics, Chemistry and Mechanical, Aeronautical and Electronic Engineering. This gives us an edge over other AI start-ups operating in our domain, as we are continuously learning from each other, and have a wide and varied perspective on problem solving. Our work environment is fairly relaxed to promote creativity and we have flexible working hours, however we do often need to work to tight deadlines to deliver customer projects, so agility is important too. Fundamentally we are an IP generating company with a culture that mixes elements of academia and industry, and with a drive to bring new technologies to the world faster.
