Jamie and Mariella started a cyber security consultancy, Tresor Security, in early 2016. Their first office was in Borough, and Paul Sideras (our Product Manager) was their first hire. They mostly worked with startups and SMEs and offered them help with security, compliance and certification. One day, a friend called Finn from Wiser introduced Jamie to Rob from CharlieHR, and everything changed.
CharlieHR wanted ISO 27001 certification and needed help. Tresor had never done an end-to-end ISO 27001 project before, but saw it as a great opportunity to learn and grow. Thus, Jamie and Mariella went on a course, learnt and qualified in ISO 27001 and started work to deliver certification for CharlieHR.
It was love at first meet. After our second gathering, CharlieHR invited us to move into their office. The atmosphere The Eleven and CharlieHR had created was unique, and we were inspired by their passion, kindness and drive.
After a few months, we had a meeting to discuss new company policies and Ben, CharlieHR’s COO sank in his chair and tried to hide under the table and said: "Why can't you build a platform for security like CharlieHR does for HR and revolutionise the entire process?"
And from that spark Jamie and Mariella started work on CyberSmart.
We have come a long way since then. In 2017 alone, we joined Seedcamp, took part in the first GCHQ accelerator, raised our first funding round of £250,000, grew our team, integrated official certification, launched the CyberSmart app, and much more.
In 2018 we grew from a handful to over 400 customers, gained over a hundred channel partners, became one of the top ten certification bodies, raised a further £500k and got our own office.
